At Cyted, Charlene leads business development and market access activities for growth of services across the UK. Cyted is bringing to clinic the diagnostic Cytosponge test for the earlier detection of oesophageal cancer with our in-house digital pathology and AI tools.

Charlene is an early employee at Cyted, having joined the company as employee number 6, straight after her Master’s in Biochemistry at the University of Cambridge. Charlene has supported the growth of Cyted to a 60-strong team and through rapid expansion of services across the UK.

In Q1 2022, Charlene successfully secured a £0.5M grant from SBRI Healthcare for Project CYTOPRIME, bringing Cytosponge to community care across the North West for the recovery of endoscopy services. As Project Director, Charlene is working in partnership with the North West Coast AHSN, NHS teams across the Lancashire & South Cumbria and Cheshire & Merseyside ICSs and Cancer Alliances, as well as Unity Insights and Medtronic, to offer Cytosponge to the longest waiters on endoscopy waiting lists.
