Umar is CEO of Abtrace, an Artificial Intelligence digital health start-up based in London. It has raised more than £4m in venture and grant funding, partnering with more than 85 GP practices, covering one million patients.

He is an NHS doctor trained at the University of Cambridge and UCL with over 10 years NHS clinical experience spanning Tropical Medicine, A&E and now Anaesthesia. His other experience ranges from frontline humanitarian work in Sierra Leone during Ebola crisis to clinical research at AP-HP, Paris and health policy work at the WHO, Geneva.

Umar is a mentor on the NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme and trustee on the board of international charity EMERGENCY UK.
