Innovation: Scarred Liver Pathway
Liver disease is on the rise, and is now the fifth largest killer in the UK. Currently, 50% of new diagnoses of liver cirrhosis occur after emergency admission to hospital. Neil is a Clinical Associate Professor in Hepatology, University of Nottingham and Consultant Hepatologist, at Nottingham University Hospitals and his innovation aims to deal with this issue by identifying patients at risk at an earlier stage. Neil’s ambition for the programme is to gain a greater understanding of how to implement genuine innovation within the NHS infrastructure in a timely manner.
