Karina and her innovation, FREED, were supported by the NIA from 2017-2019.
Karina is a clinical psychologist working in the Eating Disorders Service at the Maudsley Hospital, South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. As part of her role, she serves as Project Manager for FREED. Karina has 12 years of experience with research, clinical practice and health policy in eating disorders, in both Australia and the UK. As part of this, she has published 42 peer-reviewed journal articles in the field and received recognition for her work through awards from the Academy of Eating Disorders, Eating Disorder Research Society, Australian Association of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Journal of Eating Disorders.
FREED is First Episode Rapid Early Intervention for Eating Disorders. It is a service for 16 to 25-year-olds who have had an eating disorder for three years or less.
