Hannah Nearney
Dr Hannah Nearney is a consultant psychiatrist with 18 years of NHS service, complemented by experience in a range of independent and commercial healthcare settings. Her varied career has included strategic work as an NHSE network clinical advisor and an MSc in Healthcare Leadership.
Her interest in Flow transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) home-based treatment for Major Depressive Disorder stemmed from frustration with the lack of patient choice and limitations of standard treatments. After direct clinical experience of using the Flow headset with patients, and reviewing the evidence, she quickly recognised this innovation’s enormous potential for health benefits at scale.
As UK Medical Director at Flow Neuroscience, Hannah is committed to making this a reality by working to increase Flow tDCS adoption and access across a range of NHS and private settings. Her successes include developing training for clinicians, building a thriving clinical peer group, and collaborating with diverse NHS services on a range of pilot projects. She has successfully supported other services (e.g. Leicester Partnership NHS Trust) to scale from pilot phase to wider treatment provision, demonstrating her strong capability for implementation and change management in a field of growing patient need.
