MyWay digital health: Scaling digital solutions for diabetes and beyond
Find out how MyWay digital health is empowering patients to self-manage long-term conditions and supporting clinicians with the tools to deliver more effective, efficient care.
MyWay digital health joined the NHS Innovation Accelerator programme between 2017 and 2020. As an alumni, the CEO and Co-Founder Debbie Wake is taking the company to international success and transforming diabetes care.
What is MyWay and what problem does it solve?
MyWay is a clinically led, data-driven digital health platform that helps people manage long-term conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, obesity, and prediabetes.
The system integrates directly with NHS health records, giving patients access to their data, personalised education, and AI-driven insights. It helps users understand what their numbers mean – whether blood sugar, blood pressure, or cholesterol – and provides tailored advice to support better self-management.
For clinicians and health systems, MyWay offers a scalable, cost-effective way to deliver care. By automating education and monitoring at population level, it reduces clinic visits, medication costs, and hospital admissions, freeing up capacity while improving outcomes.
“Our platform can be delivered for around ÂŁ1–2 per patient per year, yet for every pound spent, the NHS saves ÂŁ5. That’s because better self-management prevents complications, hospital visits, and long-term costs.”

What was your inspiration and motivation?
As a practicing clinician, Debbie Wake saw first-hand how traditional healthcare models were struggling to keep pace with rising rates of chronic disease. In busy diabetes clinics, she could see a handful of patients each day, but millions more were missing out on timely support.
The solution, she realised, lay in combining digital technology, data, and clinical expertise to create scalable, patient-centred tools that empower people to manage their health proactively.
“There just aren’t enough clinicians to see everyone. We needed a better, more scalable model of care, one that helps people take control of their condition using their own data.”

Why did you become a Fellow?
Joining the NHS Innovation Accelerator (NIA) in 2017 was a pivotal step in MyWay’s journey. It provided Debbie and her team with national recognition and access to expert networks, helping them navigate complex NHS procurement, funding, and commissioning processes.
The programme also offered practical learning, peer support, and opportunities for evidence generation, such as health economic evaluations that strengthened their case for adoption.
“The NIA gave us the understanding, the network, and the confidence to scale. It’s a badge of credibility that opens doors and builds trust with NHS partners.”
Looking ahead
MyWay has already grown significantly – serving over 1.6 million patients’ data, operating in regions including London, Somerset, Greater Manchester, and expanding internationally to the Middle East and Asia. A recent ÂŁ3m investment round led by Foresight will now accelerate product development and global growth.
With services already supporting over 1.6 million NHS patients’ data, MyWay is expanding into new disease areas, including cardiovascular health and diabetes prevention, while continuing to demonstrate measurable cost savings and clinical impact.
“We want to become the go-to digital platform for long-term conditions worldwide, supporting millions of patients, while saving health systems time and money.”
From its origins in Scotland’s national diabetes programme, MyWay digital health has grown into a proven, evidence-based platform delivering measurable improvements in outcomes, equity, and efficiency. With previous support from the NHS Innovation Accelerator and fresh investment, it is poised to expand globally to pioneer a more scalable, sustainable model for chronic disease management.
