Jim McDonald
Jim is one of NHS Midlands and Lancashire Commissioning Support Unit (MLCSU)’s Senior Programme Managers within their Digital Transformation service. For the last two years he has been on assignment to NHS Black Country Integrated Care Board (previously Black Country and West Birmingham Clinical Commissioning Groups) to lead on their Remote Monitoring Programme along with other Digital Transformation pieces of work. He also leads the support of all six West Midlands ICBs for their remote monitoring programmes. Prior to this he was involved in multiple projects for NHS England’s Nursing Directorate.
Operating at pace and scale within the NHS can be challenging, requiring a holistic understanding of: finance, procurement & contracts, information governance, clinical safety, integration/interoperability, strategic priorities and objectives etc. When applied, it enables key stakeholders, including commissioners and clinicians to be able to access an appropriate solution to meet their needs, balancing the direct healthcare requirements along with ‘secondary uses’, crucial in benefits reporting and analysis.
Jim is a regular presenter to many local, regional and national audiences to articulate the benefits to patients and clinicians along with the co-benefits such as the Inequalities and Net Zero of Digital Transformation, harnessing the data to provide actionable intelligence to key stakeholders.
