Two NHS Innovation Accelerator innovations join forces to deliver connected, patient-centred pathways
Two innovations supported by the NHS Innovation Accelerator (NIA) have announced a new partnership to improve how patients and clinicians interact across digital care pathways.
Feedback Medical and Patients Know Best (PKB) are integrating their platforms to create a more seamless, end-to-end experience for both patients and healthcare professionals.
The companies have been working with Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Foundation Trust to better understand how their digital capabilities can enhance patient care and support the 10 Year Plan for Health in England. The Trust has a long-standing relationship with both companies, enabling them to provide clinical and operational feedback throughout.
The collaboration brings together Feedback Medical’s clinical collaboration platform, Bleepa, with Patients Know Best’s personal health record and patient engagement system. The result is a unified digital pathway that connects clinicians, diagnostic teams and patients in one place.
Through the integration, clinicians will be able to manage referrals, review clinical documentation and access patient-submitted information within a single workflow. At the same time, patients will receive communications, complete questionnaires and track their care through Patients Know Best, including via the NHS App.
The partnership is designed to reduce duplication, streamline communication and support more efficient decision-making. By linking clinical collaboration tools with patient-facing records, it also aims to give patients a more active role in managing their care.
“Our mission is to help the NHS move away from the traditional operating model and realise its dream of shifting from analogue to digital care, embracing tech-enabled care models that cut wait times, better utilise investment in diagnostic capacity and deliver for patients and taxpayers. What better way than to put the patient at the centre of their care journey? Integrating Bleepa with PKB ensures that patient information flows securely and seamlessly across care settings, while patients themselves remain fully included in their journey. We’re proud to partner with PKB to deliver this step-change in pathway modernisation.”

“PKB’s mission is to provide a single, integrated record for every patient and connecting with medical devices like Bleepa is critical to that vision. This integration brings the entire pathway together, ensuring clinicians have the right data at the right moment while patients stay informed every step of the way. We are delighted to be serving patients and clinicians immediately within a shared customer site and look forward to rolling this out to others as a priority.”

Importantly, the integration is adaptable across different specialties and care pathways, supporting a wide range of NHS services as they work to tackle waiting lists, improve productivity and deliver more care closer to home.
“We’re proud to support Feedback Medical and Patients Know Best to work together to deliver more connected patient care. By automating questionnaires and communications, we can provide patients with clearer information on the day of their referral, helping to improve patient experience and reduce avoidable pathway delays. Early pilot results are encouraging and we are optimistic about extending the model across additional pathways as part of our digital transformation ambitions.”

This collaboration reflects a broader shift across the NHS towards interoperable, digital-first models of care. As the system continues to prioritise integrated pathways, elective recovery and a single patient record, partnerships like this demonstrate how combining proven innovations can accelerate impact at scale.
Both organisations are part of the NIA community, which supports the spread of evidence-based innovations that improve outcomes, enhance patient experience and deliver value for the health system.
“This partnership is a strong example of how NIA-supported innovations can come together to deliver greater impact than they could alone. By integrating clinical collaboration with patient-held records, this approach supports key NHS priorities: reducing waiting times, improving productivity, and enabling more joined-up, patient-centred care. It also reflects the direction of travel towards interoperable digital systems that empower both staff and patients.”

By joining forces, Feedback Medical and Patients Know Best highlight the growing importance of collaboration in delivering the next generation of NHS care that is connected, efficient and centred around the patient.
