The Association of British Healthcare Industries (ABHI) – the industry association for the MedTech sector in the UK – is leading a mission to California to help British companies forge stronger relationships across the state.

The mission will take place from 23-29 September 2017 and is supported by the UK government. Its purpose is to unlock the significant opportunity in California and create demand for UK products.

The programme has been designed to help UK companies build their network and introduce them to the right organisations and hospital systems to accelerate their growth.

The seven-day trip coincides with The MedTech Conference (previously known as the Advamed conference), the leading conference for MedTech officials in North America.

The ABHI provides assistance for UK companies to export. Much of this activity is delivered through close working with the Department for International Trade and many activities are open to non-members.

Paul Benton, ABHI International Director, said: “It is a great opportunity for anyone interested in exporting to the region, as well as being a great stepping-stone for companies who simply want to find out more about the area. We are on hand to introduce you to key people and arrange valuable networking opportunities that will hopefully be the start of significant export opportunities within the region.”

Why California?

  • MedTech has highest employment figures in the Californian life sciences sector
  • It also has the second largest number of hospitals in the U.S. and the highest gross patient revenue
  • Nearly half of all biopharmaceutical and medical device venture capital goes to the state
  • California continues to lead the world with the highest number of premier research institutions and is home to 11 of the top 100 universities on the Shanghai Index.
