Compassly is an innovative competency passport app that provides complete oversight and management of healthcare professionals’ clinical skills – clinical competencies. These are the technical skills and knowledge required for the safe care of patients, and historically managing these has involved thousands of paper records, giving no oversight or assurance. It also creates and administrative headache for staff, wasting valuable clinical time.

Compassly is a complete digital platform for the authoring, management and assessment of clinical competencies. Healthcare professionals can be assessed quickly in an incredibly easy to use mobile and web application, fully customisable to match the competencies required across the organisation. This provides assurance that clinical teams have the right skills to care for patients, while recognising and motivating ongoing professional development. It saves vital clinical time on assessing clinical skills, and by enabling the transfer of skills across the NHS, it improves the standard of care alongside avoiding re-training.

The system has been designed to work seamlessly at all scales, from within a single NHS Trust, to across an ICS region, all the way up to a national scale. The platform currently hosts national competency passports from the UK Oncology Nursing Society and the British Oncology Pharmacy Association, with staff able to seamlessly passport their competencies across over 100 NHS organisations.

It is already used by almost 10,000 nurses, pharmacists, allied healthcare professionals and healthcare support workers across the whole of the UK. Through digitising competency assessment and management, and innovative use of AI-supported assessments, it can save clinical staff hours a week while improving staff training and education.
